Overview

Xscape at Milton Keynes is a high-profile 550,000 sq ft leisure and retail development incorporating one of the busiest multiplex cinemas in the UK as well as an indoor “real snow” ski slope.

JLC undertook the detailed steel frame design and 3D modelling to a very tight manufacturing and construction programme. Our highly specialised package of skills and software enabled the fabricators to meet their program to erect up to 400 tonnes of structural steelwork every week. The design team praised JLC’s ability to respond quickly, precisely and effectively to its needs.

JLC’s contribution to the project was completed in phases over six months. The nature of the design and build contract and its associated demand for continuous development meant that our design was often only two grid bays ahead of fabrication. The design team had confidence in our ability to deliver and the development was completed on time and well within budget.
