Charles De Gaulle Airport
Overview
Acting as sub-contractors to Watson Steel Ltd,
JLC were commissioned to prepare the general arrangement and
fabrication details of the most recent addition to the new group
of elliptical “Aerogare
2” terminal buildings at Roissy-Charles de Gaulle Airport.
The curved Corps Central is formed from 15 independent roof structures. A careful and skilled approach to our work ensured a
repetitive modular
fabrication process, comprising of 1 gable shell (repeated
twice), 1 standard shell (repeated 10 times), 1 non-standard
shell (repeated twice), and a central infill shell.
This huge undertaking involved the electronic
creation of some 8950 drawings for a structure that comprised of
some 4000 tonnes. Had our modular
approach not been adopted, it is estimated the number of
drawings could have been as many as 19000. |
