Broadgate Raft

Overview
JLC’s
expertise was commissioned for the design of beam splices to
Broadgate Raft over
Liverpool Street Station in the City of London.
This massive
£18m project was undertaken to create a 8000m2
footprint over 18 rail tracks as well as live power lines. Once
completed the raft will enable a future multi-storey devolvement
to proceed without working in a rail environment.
The steel
beams are 2.4m deep, span up to 38m and are connected with a
staggering 63000 bolts. The project was reported by the New
Civil Engineer and has lead to further commissions for other
similar projects
